Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings

While at-home care matters, professional checkups and cleanings are key to ensuring that all plaque and tartar is removed from all the hard-to-reach areas of your mouth. We want to make these routine appointments as thorough as they are comfortable. Upon completing your checkup and cleaning, we’ll either send you on your way or develop a treatment plan that works to address your dental concerns. We recommend that you visit at least once every six months as this allows us to catch problems before they become serious.

Nightguards for Bruxism

If you find yourself waking up with chronic mouth/jaw pain in the morning, it might mean that you are experiencing unconscious bruxism. Also known as teeth grinding and clenching, bruxism can easily cause damage to tooth enamel and result in chronic pain in the joints that connect the jaw to the skull. Our custom-made nightguards can not only protect your teeth, but also reduce chronic pain caused by clenching and grinding, whether you’re an adult or child.

Athletic Mouthguards /Sportsguards

If you have an active family, you’ve likely purchased multiple forms of protective gear to ensure their safety. At Albright Family Dental, we recommend that any and all family members who play contact sports, whether it’s football, basketball, lacrosse, or hockey, to wear a custom-made sportsguard to protect their smile. Unlike over-the-counter solutions, professionally made sportsguards offer optimal comfort, so you never have to worry about whether or not your child is staying protected on the field or the court.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Patient receiving oral cancer screening

Oral cancer is diagnosed in thousands of Americans every year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t fight back with proper prevention. During your routine exam, our team performs a quick, simple and effective oral cancer screening using the Vizilite Pro. This handheld device makes it easy to confirm the signs of oral cancer via bioluminescence. If we believe that cancer may be present inside your oral structures or neck, we’ll refer you to another doctor for a biopsy.

Fluoride Treatments

Patient receiving fluoride treatment

After your detailed cleaning, we recommend that you receive a fluoride treatment before leaving the dental office. Fluoride is crucial to preventing cavity development and gum disease, which is why it’s so ubiquitous in oral care products. With professional fluoride treatments as well as daily oral brushing, you can make sure that your tooth enamel stays strong and protected from oral bacteria. We typically recommend treatments every six months alongside your routine cleanings.

Periodontal Therapy

Do your gums appear red or inflamed? Do they feel tender to the touch or sensitive, especially to extreme temperatures? If so, you may have periodontitis, an advanced form of gum disease that requires professional scaling and root planing to treat. During your appointment, we’ll make sure to remove all decayed and infected gum tissue using our advanced soft tissue laser. Overall, you can expect more precise treatment, better comfort, and less healing time required compared to using traditional metal tools. Keep in mind that you’ll need to visit our dental office every three to four months for retreatment.
